Lansing Area Business Partners (LABP) Guidelines
Lansing Area Business Partners (LABP) exists to create a business community of like-minded people seeking to leverage the power of trusting relationships that lead to quality business referrals for each other. To accomplish that goal, there are guidelines all members are expected to honor. As opposed to being restrictive, these guidelines are intended to make sure we are on the same page and respectful of each other's time.
- Meetings are every Thursday from 8-9:30 am
- Visitors are allowed to attend up to three meetings within a calendar year without a requirement of membership. To attend additional meetings, the person either needs to be a substitute for a current member or join and be a member in good standing.
- A $50 non-refundable application fee is due when the application is submitted.
- Annual membership dues are $250 and due upon approval of a membership application or the annual membership renewal. If a member discontinues their membership prior to the completion of their membership year, dues are not prorated and are not refundable. If a member has five consecutive absences without a sub and without communication to the leadership, their category will be opened up. Dues are not prorated and are not refundable.
- Only one person is allowed to represent a professional category/industry sector and promote a specific service at LABP meetings. Members are not allowed to deviate from the category in which their membership/renewal was approved without new approval from the Membership Committee. Members must have all Michigan-required state licenses and insurance to practice business in Michigan and they must be current.
- Upon membership approval, a new member should meet with the New Member Mentor at least once within the first two weeks of membership.
- An absence will be recorded for members who are not present at the weekly meeting and are not represented by a substitute. In addition, if a member arrives after 8:40 am, he/she will be marked absent.
- Upon a member’s third absence in a calendar quarter without a sub, he/she will be expected to purchase coffee for a weekly meeting in the amount of $25 or $1/member, whichever is greater. Payment is to be submitted to the Secretary/Treasurer.
- Arriving at a weekly meeting between 8:20-8:40 am earns the member a tardy. Two tardies per quarter will equal one absence. In addition, if a member arrives after the Member Moments have begun, he/she forfeits their turn that week.
- Every member has one to two opportunities per year to provide the 10-minute spotlight. The member is required to provide a door prize valued at a minimum of $25 on the day(s) of their spotlight.
